He didn't say his name but the message is clear. Emmanuel Macron accused Monday, without mentioning him by name, the boss of X, Elon Musk, of supporting “a new reactionary international” and of interference in elections, particularly in Germany and the United Kingdom.
“Ten years ago, what if we had been told that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new reactionary international movement and intervene directly in elections, including in Germany? Who would have imagined it? », Launched the French president during a speech to French ambassadors, in reference to the American boss's continued support for the German far-right party, AfD.
Close to President-elect Donald Trump, the billionaire business leader will participate in a conversation on Thursday with the leader of the German far-right party, AfD, broadcast on X. “Only the AfD can save Germany,” said Elon Musk on his social network, triggering accusations of interference in the electoral campaign for the German legislative elections on February 23.
“Nothing prohibits” Elon Musk, owner of not misused to influence the German election.
In the United Kingdom too, the boss of Tesla and Space X is increasing his positions. In a series of messages posted on his social network X in recent days, he notably targeted Keir Starmer, the head of government and former head of the public prosecutor's office in England. At the heart of his attacks: the management by the authorities, more than ten years ago, of a vast case of rape and sexual exploitation of more than 1,500 girls and young girls in the north of England. Most of those responsible were men from Pakistan and the authorities were accused of failing to take stock of the matter.
Faced with these accusations, the British Prime Minister denounced Elon Musk's attitude, without mentioning him by name. “Those who spread lies and disinformation (…) are not interested in the victims. They are interested in themselves,” Keir Starmer told a press conference.
Still in the United Kingdom, Elon Musk also called for the organization of new legislative elections in the United Kingdom, and demanded the release of far-right activist Tommy Robinson, sentenced to 18 months in prison for having violated a court decision which prohibited him from repeating defamatory remarks against a Syrian refugee.
