“At Red-Bull, everything is much more organized and structured”

Pellizzari spoke to the microphone ofEurosport on this significant change for him, going from an Italian team with a limited budget to one of the biggest in the world: “By joining Red Bull, the way of working changes a little. Everything is much more organized and 100% structured. This is a big leap for me. This course is a first step, and we will then see how this translates into racing. The Italian group helps me a lot. It's not just a question of riders, but there are also staff people who speak our language. It's reassuring. I'm the youngest, so they protect me a little, like protective wings.”

Regarding his program, he announced that it will be centered around the Vuelta next September: “I already know my program. I will start with three races in Mallorca, followed by the UAE Tour. Then, there will be a course at altitude before a nice block of races with the Volta Catalunya, the Tour du Pays Basque and the Tour de Romandie. I'm in reserve for the Giro d'Italia, so I don't think I'll take part. But after that I have the Tour de Suisse, Vuelta Burgos and Vuelta d'Espagne planned, before the Italian autumn classics. I would also like to return to the Tour of Lombardy after my debut in 2024, but it is still far away, we will see.”

“I might have a chance to play my card, but it will depend on my performance”

Asked about his role within the team, Pellizzari remain humble: “In a lot of races I will have to work for my teammates. For example, Roglic will be captain at Volta Catalunya, it will be very important for me to learn alongside him and understand how the team works at this level. In other races, I may have a chance to play my card, but it will depend on my performance. It's my first year in this team, almost exclusively on the World Tour, so I also have to see where my level is.”

Finally, he relishes the chance given to him to be able to run alongside great champions: “It's a huge opportunity to have riders like Roglic, Hindley, Vlasov or Dani Martinez in the team. These guys have won or made the podium on the Grand , they have a lot to teach me. Of course you have to have the legs to succeed, but there's also a lot to understand beyond that. I come from a small team and here I can “steal” the captains' secrets. With Martinez, we are starting to have a great relationship. With Roglic, I talked a little the other day in training. We were cycling side by side, and he asked me how old I was. When I told him I was 21, he smiled and told me that at my age he was still ski jumping. »
