The Vélo Club de Gramat held its general meeting on Saturday November 30 at the Grand Couvent, in front of a large and attentive audience, and in the presence of Bernard Alzaga, president of the Codep du Lot, and Caroline Mey-Fau departmental councilor of the canton, the mayor de Gramat being excused. The meeting began with an emotional moment with a tribute paid to three recently deceased members: Pierre Chartagnac, Ginette Lopez and Ginette Holié.
The moral, activity and financial reports were unanimously approved. The year 2024 was marked by a significant increase in the number of members, particularly driven by new licensees who are very involved in sporting activity. The adoption of new statutes at the start of the year made the association accessible to a larger community of cyclists (road cycling, mountain biking, electrically assisted bicycles). These changes have materialized the desire to attract cyclists of all types, of all levels, from young people to the oldest.
The 26th Circuit of Wonders – Souvenir Jacques Grouhel which took place on June 16 once again confirmed its success, strengthening the reputation of the club and demonstrating its attractiveness.
The multiple requests from institutional partners also underline the importance of the Vélo Club in the local landscape (reflections on a soft mobility plan in Gramat, associations day, awareness of bicycle safety at the Sainte-Hélène college, etc.).
A basic mountain bike project, a cycling school under study…
The main lines of the projects for 2025 have been developed: 27th Circuit of Wonders, June 22; file for the creation of a mountain bike base, awaiting approval by local (Cauvaldor, Grand Couvent, town hall) and national (French Cycle Tourism Federation) authorities; study for the creation of a cycling school. The association shows itself ready to take on these challenges, continuing its momentum.
After ten years of presidency, André Delmas expressed his wish to pass on the baton while remaining an active member. During his speech, he warmly thanked the club members and partners for their unwavering support. He leaves behind a legacy which has made it possible to consolidate and consecrate the 50 years of history of the Vélo Club de Gramat as a true local institution and to ensure a transition between the oldest members and the new generation.
A new steering committee of nine members was elected and met on Monday, December 2 to form the new office: Michel Revenu, president; Éric Prudhon, vice-president; Philippe Lucas, secretary; Michel Perez, treasurer; Jacques Felzines, safety delegate; Didier Ruscassie, base and mountain bike practice delegate; Christian Pagès, deputy safety delegate; Alain Vaur, deputy treasurer.
Remember the weekly outings on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; and hikes for all levels for road cycling, mountain biking, e-bikes. The year 2025 promises to be under the best auspices for the club!
