The Puy-en-Velay Union pleads for the emergence of a single club

The Puy-en-Velay Cyclist Union held a general meeting on Saturday, November 30, in the premises of the “Espace Coluche” neighborhood center in Val-Vert, bringing together around sixty members, young people and adults.

The activity report presented the richness of the club's and associative activity during the 2023 – 2024 season. The financial report addressed the financial management of the club and highlighted the difficulties encountered by the club in finding the necessary funding for a good operation.

Training, safety, local activities…

The moral and orientation report addressed the themes of training, safety, participation in local events, the need for a cycling stadium, the future of the club and local cycling.

Training appears to be the DNA of the club which wishes to develop the involvement of young people and parents in collective life, as well as the qualification of volunteer leaders. The speakers also specified their desire to continue to participate in work on the subject of road safety and in particular on the development of secure cycle routes that has become essential, mainly in urban areas.

A cycling stadium requested, in vain, for 15 years

“A project for a cycling stadium including a BMX track, technical work areas and platforms as well as a reception building has been requested for more than fifteen years. Its realization may condition the pursuit of better training for young people cyclists But, still today, unfortunately, it remains only at the stage of a possible future programming by the urban community.

Financial needs

It was then recalled the club's desire to offer targeted cycling events in the local area, on the condition of finding the essential funding, which is always important to guarantee the safety of participants and the public.

The future of the club and local cycling then closed this report. It specified the structure of the club into various sections and groups of young people and adults. “It’s an organization that allows everyone, whatever their age and type of practice, to discover, progress and flourish in their favorite sport.”

Favorable to the emergence of a single club

The best development of local cycling sport was once again addressed by recalling the conviction of the UCPV, favorable to the emergence of a single club in the town of Puy-en-Velay. “A single structure would indeed make it possible to display a strong image and identity of local cycling sport, to welcome all cycling enthusiasts, for all cycling practices and for all ages, to allow young local athletes to discover the cycling, to progress, evolve and flourish within the same club to support them over the long term and finally, to have substantial human, material and financial resources.”

New elected officials

The renewal elections for members of the management committee saw the re-election of David Rullière, Christian Fayolle and Stéphane Pereira. Véronique Roux and Fabian Gallé were new candidates.

The general assembly ended with the intervention, online, of Romain Fayolle who started cycling within the UCPV at the age of 8, then progressed advantageously and was able to reconcile his recent legal studies with a practicing cycling at a high level.

Rewards

Then came the awarding of rewards to the young members present and the “Xavier Rebeller” Trophy to Timéo Armand, a young junior of the club thanked for his investment, his motivation and his good national results in XCO mountain biking.
