Alone, we go faster, together, we go further. This African proverb perfectly reflects the state of mind that drives the organizers of the Teurthéville-Hague and Brix (Manche) events. Close in their vision of and close at all, the two parties agreed to join forces in 2025 by organizing a challenge on the same weekend, like what André Quentin has been doing successfully for 20 years for Gainsbarre and Gislard.

“Organizing races in Cotentin is always more complicated than elsewhere because we are really out of the way. It's difficult to encourage teams to travel for just one event. By offering them two events two days in a row in a same sectorit is logically straight away more attractive », summarizes Ludovic Guéret, one of the conductors of the “Brionne”, with Frédéric Bernard and Aurélien Loquet.

Last year, his event started with 70 runnersa “disappointing” figure according to him in view of the investment made. “We would like to have a peloton of around a hundred units,” he specifies, adding that the two races would be “well equipped” to convince runners well beyond the borders of Cotentin.

We also want to give an original name to make an impression.

This burst of enthusiasm inevitably seduced Cyrille Cosnefroy, the “boss” of the Teurthéville-Hague event.

With his comrades Stéphane Lechevalier, Christian Varin and the entire family of “Cosno” cousins, the former double winner of the event agreed to move upmarket to succeed in making the project a reality. THE challenge Paul Lequertier-Louis Cosnefroytraditionally organized in Open 2, thus climbs two levels at once to find itself in Elite-Open, like Brix.

“It costs more, but there is big sporting interest. This year we only had 40 guys at the start. There, we should find a peloton worthy of the name, he underlines. The bike is not doing very well. The riders are fewer in number, a lot of races are disappearing… We have to roll up our sleeves to try to keep our sport alive,” adds the cousin of Benoît Cosnefroy, who decided to return for the occasion to the old grand circuit ( 12 km), via the formidable Coudray coast and the Pelles crossroads.

See you on May 17 in Teurthéville-Hague for the first round of the diptych and on Sunday May 18 for the second round in Brix. “There is not too much competition this weekend, we are hopeful that our challenge will work,” concludes Ludovic Guéret, already in the saddle to “advertise” himself to teams from all over the Great West.
