Léa Curinier: “I loved this season” – News

Cyclo-cross parenthesis for Léa Curinier. The Ardéchoise, who now has a home in , takes advantage of the geographical proximity to compete in the double round of the Coupe de in . Certainly an exception this winter. “The team is understanding. They let us do a lot of things. But I still think that this will be my only cross-country weekend, apart from perhaps the French Championship. Between school, training with the team, training… I don't have 36,000 weekends available. There, it was an opportunity not far from Reims”she confirms with DirectVelo.

While it is still recovering, the member of FDJ-Suez did so with the weapons of the day, this Saturday. “I tried to play as best I could. On the rolling parts, it was good, I was able to let them go. But in the technical parts, I got caught every time. I was a little more afraid than them on the descents. I really don't want to get hurt. It cost me dearly but that’s the game”. In difficult conditions, “epic”Léa Curinier still had fun, but she suffered, for a Top 10 finish at the finish (see ranking). “These conditions were not really in my favor. I haven't touched the cyclo-cross bike since the French Championship last winter. Technically speaking, I was a bit confused. I tried to do everything physically but the last lap was complicated. I had nothing left in my legs”. And for good reason: she resumed training only two weeks ago. “These are my first intensities. It was difficult but I came here to have fun and prepare for the road”.

The 23-year-old athlete inevitably has in mind the next road season, which promises to be particularly exciting for her training, in the midst of a revolution with the departures of Grace Brown, Marta Cavalli and Cecilie Ludwig on one side, and the arrivals of Juliette Labous or Demi Vollering. “The team will really take a step forward next season. It's more and more structured. All the staff are really motivated to achieve big results with the girls. With the new recruits, we will have great things to do”assures the climber, who will most certainly regularly be in a support role. “This year I had a good teammate role, it was nice. I was also a road captain. I loved this season. It was all new to me. I hope to continue learning. 2025 has great things in store for us”.
