“In my career, there have been highs, very highs, but also lows.”
In his post Instagram, Greta Richioud states: “At the end of a chapter, you have to put a point before starting a new one. After 10 years at a high level, yes, 10 years already… The time has come for me to hang up the bike. (It will not be never far away because I always remain the passionate cyclist and addicted to two-wheeled pedals.) Over all these years, I have learned a lot, stumbled often, but I have always gotten back up. Perseverance, work, determination, courage, resilience, surpassing oneself have been my guiding principle throughout my career. These values will follow me throughout my life, because sport is the school of life.
During all these years, I'm not going to lie to you, there have been highs, very highs, but also lows. Doubts, questioning, injuries, disappointments, but I only keep the positive: the victories, whether mine or those of my teammates, the incredible emotions that this sport can provide, the most beautiful races in the world in which I participated, the discovery of new cultures thanks to my different teams and teammates, the trips around the world, the hours of training spent on the bike discussing and discovering new landscapes.
I would like to thank all the people who were there, near and far, for me: my family, my friends, my club, my coaches, the teams I went through, all the people I was able to meet, the sponsors who supported me, the different team staff, all my teammates, the race organizers, the cycling world in general. You have all taught me or brought me something magnificent, something that marks a life. And for that, I say thank you!” concludes the 28-year-old Ardéchoise.
