Pogacar announces the color for 2025

Winner of the Slovenian Cyclist of the Year trophy for the fifth time, Tadej Pogacar spoke about his upcoming return to training and his ambitions for 2025.

There was undoubtedly not much suspense within the jury, despite Primoz Roglic's great victory in the Vuelta: for the fifth time in a row, Tadej Pogacar was elected Slovenian cyclist of the year. The runner with 25 successes in 2024 received his trophy Monday evening, and took the opportunity to give his news to the media present, and in particular to discuss his resumption of training in the coming weeks.

« I still have a few official events ahead of me, but then I will slowly move towards the first December preparations with the team in warmer places, where we will start serious training “, he said. The winner of the Giro, the Tour de and the world championships (among others) also revealed the victory that made him most proud in 2024. And the answer must have pleased all Slovenes: “There is had so many great victories, and in the biggest races, that I can't choose just one. But the victory at the World Championships with the national team is a little more important than the others,” Pogacar revealed.

The double in Rwanda?

The 26-year-old Slovenian made no secret of the fact that he hoped the 2025 season would be “even better” than the previous one. In particular, he dreams of retaining his world champion title in Rwanda at the end of September.

“I have already defended my victory in many races. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, and it won't be any different next year. Maybe only the World Championships will stand out, because it's a special race and it's rare that someone wins it two years in a row. Only the most special runners have succeeded (Alaphilippe, Sagan and Bettini in the 21st century, editor's note). The World Championships will probably be the most difficult race to defend. But I will be even happier to go to races where I haven't won yet and try to win there. » Why not the Vuelta?
