The Weekette des Bikettes 2024 at Les Carroz ⋆ Vojo

Every summer, the Bikettes association organizes its “Weekette”: a weekend for its members to discover a beautiful spot in the Alps where the association finds its roots. The opportunity for mountain bikers from all backgrounds to come together and meet each other for many. The women of the association have met on the slopes of Les Carroz for the 2024 edition:

This is not the first time that we have spoken to you about Les Bikettes: the association brings together women mountain bikers of all ages, from all backgrounds and above all of all levels! After a 2023 edition at Les Arcs for their annual Weekette, we're heading to Les Carroz for the summer of 2024. It's Tiffany who tells us about this weekend from the inside, story:

“Friday, 6 p.m., my bag is ready, my bike loaded and I feel like I’m going to summer camp ! I join Elise, whom I am meeting for the first time, and who will take me to Les Carroz to start this 100% “Ride & Girls” weekend!

Here we are, arriving in front of the chalet, it’s fantastic! Other cars have already arrived and we meet the girls as we settle into the rooms. Neither one nor two, we meet around a good beer and a shared aperitif. We are all happy to be here and can't wait to get started!

After the aperitif, things get serious, the Bikettes office brings us together for a briefing: Saturday will be devoted to enduro by shuttle with Bike Experience, and for Sunday, head to the bike park in Les Carroz!

Saturday morning, 7 a.m., the alarm clocks ring and personalities emerge… There are those who slept poorly, those who are not morning people, those who drown in their coffee, while others are already fresh and ready, done up, dressed and ready to fight!

8:30 a.m. is time. We are “almost” ready: bike jerseys, enduro shorts, glasses on our noses, socks pulled up, knee pads, all the paraphernalia of the perfect rider. The neighbors look at this group of girls with a slightly amused air! The Bike Experience guides and shuttles come to pick us up from our homes, we form groups, we load the bikes, and off we go towards the first descent.

For me, the guide will be Lilou! No matter, we will remain a group of girls until the end. With the help of a playlist mixing Britney and trans, we arrive at the start of the trail. All the girls start together at first, then over the roots, stones and turns, the bikes separate so that everyone finds themselves in a group at their own level, without pressure. We're getting our bearings, the atmosphere is great and welcoming.

Siméon, our driver, picks up our group to take us back to the next descent: the famous “Bourgeoise”, which displays its 1200m difference in altitude all on singletrack. After a short climb, the Bikettes break/rest is necessary at the top to admire the view. The track is not always easy, and we face a few twists and turns: slips, mechanical glitches… but that's the game and that's not what's going to stop us! On the contrary, Lilou's few tips give us confidence throughout the descent.

After a long and superb path where roots, stones, technical or more “flowy” passages mingle, we arrive at the bottom for a picnic on the edge of Lake Samoëns. We exchange our first impressions before setting off for another afternoon of mountain biking in a postcard setting, with Mont Blanc in the background.

Around 6 p.m., it's time to return to the chalet. As soon as we arrive, the tap is connected and all we have to do is throw beers down our throats! We meet the girls from the other groups. Everyone has a smile on their faces. We enjoy an aperitif on our large terrace, it's super pleasant under the evening colors. The atmosphere is friendly and the girls pitch in so that everyone enjoys the evening. We even discover a “Spritz Manager” and “BBQ managers” who make sure that no one dies of thirst or hunger.

It is around a large table that we share a meal prepared with love for and by the Bikettes. For the most motivated, the evening ends with a little taste of Génépi and “inside Molky”. And for everything else, I can't tell you: what happens at the Weekette, stays at the Weekette!

The next day, it's the rain that wakes us up, but the motivation is still there. The departure is given in the direction of the Carroz bike park for the girls who have booked a lesson there. It is Lilou who will supervise them to work on their technique.

For the others, we organize ourselves into small groups and we also join the ski lifts. The terrain is a little slippery, but that's okay, after all that's what mountain biking is too! The trails are long, it's nice, and what a pleasure to ride in a group! We challenge ourselves, we expect each other and the atmosphere is super good despite the little drizzle. atmosphere guaranteed!

After our last descent, we join the members of the Bikettes office, who have remained dry, for a last little picnic before saying goodbye! We hit the road again, our heads full of memories and our hearts swollen by this beautiful weekend and these great encounters. Looking forward to the next one! »
