the Pouillet family's challenge against Huntington's disease

Their name might mean something to you. Charline and Théo Pouillet, originally from Saint-pierre-en-Auge (), have been increasing their sporting challenges for several years: climbing Mont Blanc, Kilimanjaro, around Europe, etc.

100 km per day

So many exploits used to draw attention to the rare and incurable genetic Huntington's disease. Their father, Olivier, is affected and gradually loses his physical and cognitive faculties. Like him, 6,000 people suffer from it in .

On October 26, the Pouillets unveiled their new challenge, during a special evening at the sports center: Charline and Théo will explore part of by bike, for 10 days, at a rate of 100 km per day.

From Calvados to Orne

A significant challenge, certainly, but less ambitious than in the past. “Dad's situation has clearly deteriorated compared to Kilimanjaro (2022), explains Charline Pouillet. We must adapt our projects to its possibilities. » During this cycling journey, Olivier Pouillet will sometimes be in the saddle and sometimes towed by his children.

After leaving Caen on Sunday morning, the Pouillets will be in Saint-Pierre-en-Auge on Monday and Tuesday in Falaise. Then direction Orne: Vimoutiers, Saint-Evroult-Notre-Dame-du- and L'Aigle. So many steps “in the footsteps of dad’s story”. Of the “moments of conviviality” will be organized in each city, with “family, friends, other Huntington’s patients. It’s an event to bring people together”.
