. Track – Worlds – Berteau and Borras in silver… cruel for Nilsson-Julien

Two days after the bronze medal of Clement Petit on the scratch, the French team won its second charm on Saturday on the occasion of the fourth day of the Track World Championships ! Marion Borras et Victoire Berteau took second place in the Madison, only 3 points ahead of the Danish pair made up of Julie Norman Leth et Amalie Dideriksen. Attentive throughout the race and physically strong enough to be offensive and compete very regularly in the sprints, the two Tricolors continued the tradition which wants to reach the podium from the Madison to the Worlds (this is the fifth in a row). It’s the British Neah Evans et Katie Archibald who took third place.

Video – It went much better than at the Olympics for Marion Borras

Oscar Nilsson-Julien deprived of the bronze medal on the gong

A little later, the French clan came very close to being able to celebrate a second medal during this fourth evening of the World Championships. Third before the final sprint of the last event of the omnium, the points race, Oscar Nilsson-Julien was unfortunately dislodged from this position by the Dutchman Yanne Dorenboswhich thus deprived the Franco-British of a first medal on the world stage, and this by 1 point. The title went to the Belgian Lindsay De Vilderand it’s Italian Simone Consonni who took the second step of the podium.

No fifth world title in pursuit for Chloé Dygert

Two other titles were distributed on Saturday evening, in this case those of the 500 meters and the Women’s pursuit. The first event saw the victory of the Russian Yana Burlakovawhich we knew under the name of Tychtchenko before 2022 and his marriage with Danila Burlakov. The one we had not seen in a major international competition for three years beat the British Sophie Capewell et Katy Marchant.

The chase also gave rise to a surprise since the immense favorite Chloé Dygertcrowned four times in this event (2017, 2018, 2020, 2023) and who had beaten her own world record during qualifying (3’15″663), lost in the final to the British Anna Morris. The two women were accompanied on the podium by the New Zealander Bryony Botha. Finally, we know the last square of men’s speed, this one being made up of the Dutch Harrie Lavreysen et Jeffrey Hooglandyou Trinidadian Nicholas Paul and Japanese Order.
