After a historic year 2023, the Visma | Lease a Bike had a difficult 2024 season, marked by bad luck. No Grand Tour won, no top 10 on a Monument… but the Dutch team still finished 2nd in the UCI rankings, with 32 victories on the clock. Questioned by our colleagues from Sporza, Tiesj Benoot took stock of his team’s season.

“It’s frustrating, but on the other hand, we can be proud”
“Any WorldTour team, with the exception of UAE Team Emirates, would sign for a season like ours. Of course, I realize that it was different from other seasons, and it is also something that will evolve. We We will look at falls, or injuries, but it is something difficult to manage, because risks are always part of cycling.”explain Benoot. “I think we should rather look at it as: despite the bad luck, we still got these results. It’s frustrating, but on the other hand, we can be proud of the fight we put up. Also on the Tour of France, because thanks to us, there was a battle for victory for two weeks.”
