We already knew that the 2025 Tour de France would not make a stop in the English Channel. We knew, in fact, that no Manche commune had applied to accommodate a departure or arrival next year.
What we didn’t know, however, was whether the Grande Boucle would make a detour through our department. This will finally be the case!
As its official announcement approaches on Tuesday October 29, 2024, the 2025 route is gradually being revealed. We obviously knew the location of the Grand Départ, with three days in Hauts-de-France.
We could also suspect that the caravan was going towards a great west totally neglected this year. Finally, we easily imagined that Normandy would, this time, be entitled to its share of the pie.
During a stage between Bayeux and Vire
This will be the case during three consecutive days. The first will be marked by an arrival, on July 8, 2024, in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), 13 years after the peloton’s last incursion.
The second should propose, on July 9, 2024, an intramural time trial in Caen (Calvados), on the occasion of the millennium of the Lower Normandy capital.
Finally, the third will offer, on July 10, 2024, a wandering between Bayeux and Vire (Calvados), via the Channel roads.
The route between the two Calvadosian communes should, in fact, allow the best cyclists in the world to pedal on the Manche tarmac, probably on the toboggan roads of Mortainais.
Even if we have been waiting since 2016 and the Grand Départ of Mont-Saint-Michel for a departure or arrival in our department, we are not going to shy away from our pleasure. See you on July 10, 2025 in the South Channel to be (a little) part of the party.
