Cyclo-cross: Cyril Fernandes Perez brought the experience to bear at Mazet-Saint-Voy

Cyril Fernandes Perez showed himself the strongest on Sunday at the Mazet-Saint-Voy cyclo-cross. He put his experience to use against two young people who had remained in his wheel for a long time.

Winner in 2022, Cyril Fernandes Perez did it again this Sunday. The licensee from Saint-Chamond, who lives in Valprivas, showed himself to his advantage on the Mazet-Saint-Voy circuit, modified this year with the addition of stairs.

At 41, the veteran regional champion managed to overwhelm two juniors, Beauzacois Jules Sauzet, and Joannes Lecoq from Uniteam, winner in 2023 tied with Augustin Bailly and Laurent Begard, two club mates, absent this year.

After mid-race, Fernandes Perez, champion of the and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and winner a week earlier of the Genas cyclo-cross, toughened his tone and his two breakaway comrades, on mountain bikes, ended up letting go. Sauzet, after several attempts in the last laps, took a lead over the other junior.

In total, there were 52 adults and 26 young people on this Mazet-Saint-Voy cyclo-cross, supported by the Vélo Club du Haut-Lignon.
