Hundreds of walkers and mountain bikers gathered for a good cause in Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaizon

In Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaizon, walkers and mountain bikers came together for a good cause with a day dedicated to the fight against cancer.

The Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaizon march, which was previously held at night, took place for the second time during the day, this Sunday, October 13. And it is clear that the formula is attractive. More than 600 people participated in the 28th edition of the event on foot, on a 9-kilometer loop, or by mountain bike.

Two mountain bike trailsMountain bikers had the choice of competing in two courses of 25 and 45 km

Two routes were offered to mountain bikers, who left a little earlier than the hikers. A first which was intended to be “accessible and family-friendly” with 25 km to cover and 300 meters of elevation gain. And a second of 45 km with 1,000 m of elevation gain. This novelty for the most seasoned mountain bikers was awaited by a large number of enthusiasts who were able to race over a long distance without the pressure of the result since no timer was started. This was the case for Alain, who has already cycled more than 5,000 km on road and off-road this year under his belt. He wanted to participate in the day for the first time by trying the 45 km experience with his electric mountain bike. “I discovered paths that I didn’t know thanks to the race and it was really nice, especially around Lac du Bouchet. We were able to climb high and with the good weather the course was magnificent.”

If the walk is now organized in the morning, it is also to bring together athletes at midday around the famous Auvergne hotpot. Prepared at 6:30 a.m., the meal concocted on a “roller” that can accommodate four 90-liter bins, made it possible to heat the 80 kg of potatoes, but also the 40 kg of carrots and the 600 sausages. Guests were able to eat on site or even take away the meal. If in previous editions, the organizers used to donate their profits to the AMF Téléthon, this year, they chose to donate the funds raised to the League against Cancer. The march of Saint Christopher on Dolaizon now during the dayThe march of Saint Christopher on Dolaizon now during the day
