Stefan Küng for a third victory at Les Herbiers?

The organization had so far only named a few names, including three from the elite men’s field: the Belgian Alec Segaert, European U23 time trial champion, Mathieu Burgaudeau and Thomas Gachignard, both TotalEnergies riders. Tuesday October 8, the entire set of the 42e edition of the Chrono des Nations has been unveiled, with the men’s headliner being a double winner of the event.

After his successes in 2021 and 2022, Stefan Küng (Groupama – FDJ) returns to Les Herbiers with the firm intention of registering his name a third time on the winners list of the event. He has a deep love for the Chrono des nations underlines Marion Hérault-Garnier, president of the Chrono des nations who, for her first edition at the head of the Vendée event, appreciates a very nice line-up of specialists . To win, the Swiss Stefan Küng will have to be faster than the Australian Jay Vine (UAE Emirates), the Belgian Alec Segaert (Lotto Dstny), but also the Spaniard David de la Cruz (Q36.5 Pro ) or the Dane Mikkel Bjerg (UAE Emirates).

25 nationalities, 22 national champions

Among the elite women, the organization announced it a few days ago: the Olympic champion and reigning world time trial champion will be at Les Herbiers on Sunday. The Australian Grace Brown (FDJ – Suez), 32 years old, will even compete in Vendée in the last race of her career. Facing her, the Austrian Anna Kiesenhofer, who won in 2023, or the Italian Vittoria Guazzini (FDJ – Suez), 23 years old, world champion in the hopeful time trial in 2022.

The Chrono des Nations lives up to its name, since 25 nationalities will be represented on Sunday at Les Herbiers, in the different categories, with no less than 22 national champions out of the 200 participants. Among the U23s, the Swede Jakob Söderqvist, vice-world champion in the time trial, will be the big favorite, ahead of the champion of Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark but also the champion of , Maxime Decomble . Among the locals, we will find Grégory Pouvreault and Benjamin Marais (Vendée U) in this hopeful field, and Lucas Menanteau (La Roche-sur-Yon) and Johan Chardon (Les Sables Vendée) among the juniors.
