In Zurich, Aurélien de Comarmond wants to show off the jersey – News

Like last year in Glasgow, Aurélien de Comarmond is participating in the World Championship this week. The Mauritian started this Monday with the individual time trial for the Espoirs. “It is important to be at the start and a great pride for Mauritius to be here. We are a small country with few runners so being at a World Cup is really cool”appreciates the usual Océane Top 16 rider at the microphone of DirectVelo.

Ranked 70th last year in the Glasgow time trial, this time he took his place in the Top 50 of the event dominated by the Spaniard Ivan Romeo (see ranking). The result was not his priority of the day. “I know I’m not at the level of the pros who are here. I wanted to gain experience and enjoy cycling. It’s just a bonus to race against guys like that.”

DO A THIRD YEAR IN

L’Espoir 3rd year, present recently on the Tour de la Réunion, had not prepared for this meeting against the clock. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been on my time trial bike so it was quite complicated. I was sore all over because of the position. I tried to manage as best as possible. I didn’t take many risks. I think I managed well, I gave my best”he appreciated upon arrival. We will still have to come up against WorldTour hopeful riders this Friday during the road race. “The course is really tough. With riders like (Isaac) Del Toro who is with UAE, it will be complicated, but I will try to give my best and show the jersey at least once.”

Aurélien de Comarmond is finishing his second season in the French amateur peloton. “I did a lot of races this year, I rode well, better than during my first year in France with Fybolia. My first year was difficult, I was a little burned out. I think that for a second season, I put in the kilometers so it was better”appreciates the winner of the Prix du district Saint-Georges in Périgueux and the Grand Prix de l’Isle d’Espagnac. He intends to do one more season in France. “I don’t have a team yet but I’m talking to N1 teams.”
