Australia crowned, France fourth

This Wednesday, Australia won the title of world champion in the mixed relay team time trial. France finished fourth.

It was all decided by just 85 hundredths of a second. This Wednesday, during the World Road Cycling Championships, Australia won the world title in the mixed relay team time trial, after a course around Zurich in Switzerland. This event brings together, in each of the teams, three men, then relayed by three women. The suspense was total since less than a second behind, we find Germanyat the finish of this fifth edition of this event, which appeared in 2019 at the world and European championships. Italy also climbed onto the podium, in third place, just eight seconds from the final victory. For its part, the French team, which was the reigning vice-world champion in this same discipline, could not do better than a final fourth place, 16” from the podium, 23” from victory.

The big finale from Labous and Kerbaol was not enough

Bruno Armirail, Thibault Guernalec and Benjamin Thomas were already fourth after their passage. Juliette Labous, Cédrine Kerbaol and Audrey Cordon-Ragot, who then left, had trouble getting started. Despite a great finish from Labous and Kerbaol, the Blues did not manage to get on the podium. This is the first time at the world championships that Australia, made up of Grace Brown, world champion in the individual time trial last Sunday, Brodie Chapman, Ruby Roseman-Gannon, Jay Vine, Ben O’Connor and Michael Matthews, has been crowned in this mixed relay time trial. In the prize list, the Australians succeed Switzerland, double title holder but deprived, this year, of Stefan Küng and Marlen Reusser. The Swiss only finished eighth on Wednesday.
