A small surprise in the Espoirs time trial of the 2024 Road Cycling World Championships. Ivan Romeo crushed the last part of the race to win. Alec Segaert, the big favorite, did not finish on the podium.
Ivan Romeo (21 years old) was crowned World Champion 2024 on the Espoirs time trial this Monday at ZurichThe Spaniard set an incredible time in the final sector to push all his opponents back by more than 30 seconds at the end of the day’s 29.9 kilometres. Jakob Söderqvist (Sweden) took the silver medal 32 seconds behind, and Jan Christen (Switzerland) the bronze medal at 40 seconds. Alec Segaert (Belgium), the big favourite of the day, completely exploded after the last intermediate and was relegated to 54 seconds, just off the podium.
