Auzole, land of cyclo-cross this Sunday

the essential
The area located in Saint-Pierre Lafeuille is hosting this Sunday the second edition of its cyclo-cross organized by Cahors Cyclisme. From 10 am in the morning, the races of the different categories will follow one another with the highlight being the senior race, which will start at 3 pm.

Since he discovered this sport in 2020, cyclo-cross has become a real passion for Samuel Bodart. The rider, originally from the north, licensed with Cahors Cyclisme for four years, takes part in around fifteen races in each year. Holder of the regional Challenge title in the Master category, the cyclo-crossman from Cahors also lines up each year in several Coupe de events (this will be the case this season where he will be in Nommay, Pierric, and La Ferté Bernard) and will be at the start of the French Master championship of the specialty at the beginning of December on the island of Oéron.
The Cadurcien wanted to share this passion with the Lot public and so last season, after several years of absence, relaunched the Cyclo-Cross of Saint-Pierre Lafeuille. “It’s an opportunity to shine a light on this sport in the Lot (remember that there is also an event in Montcuq) and also on the Cahors Cyclisme club. The first edition organized last year was a great success, remembers Samuel Bodart. It brought together a great field including the master world champion Thibaut Vassal and the French champion Valentin Cosnier, and the public responded.”
For this second edition in Saint-Pierre Lafeuille scheduled for this Sunday, September 28, which will launch the cyclo-cross season in Occitanie, the Cadurcien hopes to experience the same success and all the ingredients seem to be there for it to be so. “The Auzole site, kindly made available to us by the “Lot pour toi” association, is perfectly suited to cyclo-cross. The area is extensive and offers excellent visibility for spectators, it is hilly with descents and climbs that allow for changes of pace, with also turns, boards, passages in the undergrowth… The 2.5 km circuit will offer everything that makes this sport specific, which requires agility, power, endurance… It is a complete and very spectacular sport. There is a real craze for this discipline that appeals to young people and families alike,” describes Samuel Bodart.
On Sunday, on the occasion of this big cyclo-cross day in Auzole (which will start at 10 am with the youngsters’ race and end with the seniors’ race, which will start at 3 pm), more than two hundred riders are expected, representing in particular the clubs of , Mazamet, , Castelsarrasin, , etc. Cahors Cyclisme will line up around ten riders, including Samuel Bodart, winner last year in the Masters. “I won the event last year and I’m going to do everything I can to win it again this year,” says Samuel Bodart, who is looking forward to Sunday in Auzole “to rediscover the atmosphere specific to cyclo-cross, which reminds me of the festive atmosphere of the races in the north.”

In the morning from 10 a.m.: races from the little ones to the cadets.
In the afternoon from 1:30 p.m.: junior, women’s, masters and senior races.
