And 97! Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-B & B Hôtels) won his 97th professional victory (his 2nd in 2024 after a stage of the Tour Poitou-Charentes), this Sunday, during the 74th edition of the Classique Paris-Chauny. He beat the Breton of origin Paul Penhoët (Groupama-FDJ) and Milan Fretin (Cofidis).

“I started (the sprint) from very far away”

“It’s never easy to win almost at home (he’s from Picardy). My family and friends were there. It’s really nice to win. It was a very offensive race, with many attacks in the final. I launched (the sprint) from very far away, I felt I could do it. I had a series of three races (Flanders Championship, Paris-Chauny, Circuit du Houtland, Wednesday in Belgium). I wanted to win at least one, and that’s what I did,” described the sprinter after the line.
