Interview – Formerly one of the best French sprinters, Jeffrey Lami tells what led him to choose to become Timothée Adolphe’s guide… to the point of winning the Olympic medal with him

They are an integral part of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. In several events and depending on the disabilities, the guides appear alongside the disabled athletes. Omnipresent on the track and on the screen, these guides nevertheless work in the shadow of the athletes.

Jeffrey Lami is one of them. Silver medalist alongside athlete Timothée Adolphe this Sunday in the 400m T11 (total blindness), he saw his Games end this Sunday. But the guide remains in the Olympic village to support “his athlete” who is aiming for the gold medal this Thursday in the 100m T11 with another guide. This Sunday, you won a silver medal in the 400m alongside Timothée Adolphe. Can we say that your goal has been achieved?

Yes, totally. We were aiming for a medal and we got it. Timothée was disappointed at the finish because we had put a lot of things in place to bring home the gold, and that’s not the case.
