This is something that a top athlete has just reminded us of today: the highly regarded Italian sprinter Valentina Petrillo, who is not just a professional athlete, but a historical figure: by participating in the Paris 2024 Games, she effectively becomes the first trans person to compete in the Paralympics. This is a great day for the LGBTQ community.
Less happy, however, is the event for transphobes who will not fail to make their nauseating remarks – we are inevitably waiting for the comment of a famous British novelist known for her “controversial” remarks on this subject… But by focusing too much on these endless waves of hatred, we forget the question that matters the most: who is Valentina Petrillo?

A sportswoman with many exploits who has finally become herself
The first openly transgender athlete to participate in the Paralympic Games, having recently qualified for the semi-finals of her 400m event, the sprinter actually came to warm up the track at the Stade de France with a time of 58.35/100ths.
