This Tuesday, the English federation announced five changes in the XV de la Rose group which is preparing for the 6 Nations Tournament. Jamie George, Alex Coles, Jack Van Poortvliet, Alex Dombrandt and Alex Mitchell were injured last weekend. The nugget Henry Pollock (19 years old) was notably called in for reinforcement.
The Champions Cup weekend left its mark on the England group. The XV de la Rose staff saw five of their players get injured with their club jersey on their shoulders. Hit against Castres on Sunday, Jamie George withdrew from the first gathering for the Tournament. Same fate for Jack van Poortvliet (Leicester), Alex Dombrandt, Alex Mitchell and Alex Coles (Northampton). All these guys have obviously been replaced in the squad which is going to Girona (Spain) this week.
Pollock called
His presence was expected in Steve Bortshwick's very first list, he ultimately had to wait a few more days to see Henry Pollock land in the English selection. Exceptional with the Northampton Saints, the 19-year-old flanker was called in as reinforcements after the cascade of injuries. Others called up are: Curtis Langdon (Northampton), Ben Spencer (Bath), Raffi Quirke (Sale) and Arthur Clark (Gloucester).
-As a reminder, England will begin its Tournament on February 1 in Ireland.
