Cyclists now have their place on rue de Quilimar and route de Kerimel, which will soon connect Moëlan-sur-Mer and Clohars-Carnoët.
“The routes are considered with the national Avelo 2 program. All constraints are studied to carry out the developments,” reports Gwenaël Herrouet, deputy for town planning. Rue de Quilimar, an unmarked central lane roadway (CVCB), also called chaucidou, was created. Motorized vehicles travel on the central lane and cyclists on the paved part of the shoulder. “A review will be made in a few months. We let motorists familiarize themselves with this system before extending it to other sectors of the municipality,” assures the elected official, who specifies: “The City of Clohars-Carnoët is awaiting land acquisitions to be able to finalize the project “.
8.2 km to Quimperlé
Ultimately, this route will serve the college and join the greenway at Pont Dourdu. Then, the developed link will pass via the Cosquer road (where the development has just been carried out), to reach Quimperlé via the Land Ristoir road. “This route linking Moëlan to Quimperlé represents the same distance as the RD116, i.e. 8.2 km,” assures Gwenaël Herrouet.
In the town, lanes limited to 30 km/h, authorized in the opposite direction for cyclists, are currently being considered as part of its redevelopment.
The opposition group “Moëlan, a common ambition” says it is “favorable to the creation of cycle facilities” but expresses doubts as to the way of achieving them, the prioritization of sections and the relevance of the chaucidou system. The group would like developments towards the beaches and recalls that “in our territory, the car remains the mode allowing the best accessibility to dispersed amenities”.
