Florian Fery is the third man in this French Junior cyclo-cross Cup. On the podium of the final ranking of the old National Challenge, he occupies the third step but this weekend, he climbed to second place, twice: Saturday behind Soren Bruyère Joumard and this Sunday, not far from Théophile Vassal (see the ranking). Since the first two races in Nommay, the Bikeenergy School member has been on the Coupe de podiums. “In six rounds, I only left the podium once (in , 4th Editor's note)”, he recalls. And as only the six best results count for the Juniors, the 17-year-old rider is among the leading trio of the Coupe de France.

For the last round, Florian Fery wanted to test himself for the next rounds. “I know I'm in good shape, my legs last until the endhe assures DirectVelo. I tried but I'm still missing a little thing in the walking parts. My strong point is the first two rounds, that's where I can hurt everyone, it was a bit broken“. Behind, Soren Bruyère Joumard, Saturday's winner, does not catch up. “I know that behind, Soren made some mistakes, that's why he's not coming back“.

“ONLY ONCE IN YOUR LIFE A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN FRANCE”

Théophile Vassal and Florian Fery therefore competed for victory. “It was the one who took the lead on the technical passage which dug the first ten meters. He was a little stronger than me on the last climb. I gave the best of myself, I have no regrets“. Even if for him the results are not “perfect because victory is missing“, he is satisfied with his results which do not surprise him. “I knew I could have such a season. In Cadets 2, I was vice-Champion of France. I knew I could make a podium“. And above all his body left him alone. “This year, I am not injured, unlike last year. I can do seated workouts“.

Once the Coupe de France is over, it's time for higher objectives. First the World Cup. “I will try to get a Top 10, a Top 5, and why not a podium. We saw Soren win two weeks ago. There are six-seven of us from this generation who can play at the international level“Then it will be the French Championship.”I've never been to Pontchâteau but it's a circuit that could suit me with big physical parts, it's in the back of my mind“And finally, the hope of selection for the World Championship in Liévin.”Participating would be something crazy, if we go, there will be people we know to encourage us. It's only once in your life that you can compete in a World Championship in France!“.
