After this excellent 2024 season, we project ourselves on 2025 … Do we have to do better?
Yeah, exactly, we know that it will necessarily be difficult to do better because the season was excellent, but here we are, we will continue to work in this direction to make a very good season. We will have well -defined objectives with the team. And then we already project ourselves on 2025 in terms of preparation.
What will be the objectives for 2025?
There will be several important points. Inevitably, we can already talk a little bit about the Tour de France, with the big departure in Lille which will be important for us, our partners, Decathlon and Van Rysel. To make a better tour of France than last year, it will be one of the points really to improve for this season. And in 2025, I wanted to come back to the Tour.
When we made a year 2024 four like that, do we put a little pressure?
Inevitably, afterwards, we know that the seasons are not necessarily alike. So we try to get back into it, take up what worked and see what we can improve. We are leaving a little zero, but inevitably, we always want to do better. So, it's always difficult, but we are applied to resume the right bases and redo adjustments, to have a program perhaps a little better optimized …
Eight years that you have already been in the team, you are one of the old Briscards …
I am one of the oldest. There are many young people arriving. It is both exciting to be able to find very good young runners by our side and it is also a challenge. We want to be able to help them, guide them so that they perform. This is the strength of the group, having promising young people and with experienced runners, to make a bit of a homogeneous group.
Many things have changed since you happened, have you expected all of this?
Sure, there are many things have changed. I don't know if I expected it or not, it was a need. It is a necessity, currently, in the bicycle, to really restructure the teams, to professionalize, internationalize. So here, we will say that we evolve with our time, our sport, which evolves every year. So, I'm pretty happy with the turn that the team takes.
And you let your little brother leave …
It was not I who let him leave (smile). My brother's departure this year is a change, it's a little weird. But now, in my way of Cycling, training and running on a daily basis, it will not change anything. It's a hell of a challenge for him. It is sure that it is a challenge, so I think it will have fun too.
If there was something to check in 2025 for you, what would it be?
It would be the Tour de France. I think it will be one of the main goals for me and especially for the team.
Then, the race program is not yet perfectly defined.
