One last lap on the most beautiful avenue in the world. All together, before turning the page. The Olympic and Paralympic athletes who thrilled France and the world during the Olympic Games and then the Paralympic Games in Paris are being honored this Saturday, with a grand parade on the Champs-Elysées.

The “champions parade”, organized in front of more than 70,000 lucky people, will be followed by a decoration ceremony and a big concert. In total, nearly 300 athletes, out of the approximately 800 members of the Olympic and Paralympic delegations, are expected for this magnificent celebration.

“I’ve won the game!”

“There is certainly a touch of nostalgia, but also a lot of euphoria because we are going to see the French public one last time, which was exceptional. The weather is beautiful too! We will have to take full advantage of this last celebration,” Alexis Hanquinquant, flag bearer at the opening ceremony and gold medalist in the para triathlon, told us on RMC. When it came to taking stock and bringing out strong or more personal images, he wanted to highlight the “Olympic opening”.

“It particularly touched me. Having Paralympic athletes at the Olympic opening ceremony (himself, Nantenin Keïta and Marie-Amélie Le Fur) was a strong and important signal. Having won gold by taking the flag from my children’s hands was also something magical. I won the game! I couldn’t have imagined such a great summer,” he stressed with a big smile on RMC, very proud of the overall success of these Paris Games.

“The numbers are there,” he stressed. “We completely broke the records of London in 2012. And when you know that that was the basis for a long time, we set a monumental bar. I wish Los Angeles good luck because it’s going to be tough for them!” The message got through.
