A long and difficult journey
And for a classic first of its kind, Dunkirk – Lens will not be a stroll through the Nord and Pas-de-Calais. With a distance close to the great classics (193.8 kilometers) and difficulties which arrive quite quickly with the Côte d'Estrée blanche, already used by the Grand Prix d'Isbergues, the classic will quickly be launched. But it is above all in Bouvignies and Notre Dame de Lorette that runners will be able to gauge and test themselves with two passages through these legendary places. Small point of history, after Notre Dame de Lorette, the peloton will pass by Vimy and its Canadian piece of land. The finale in Lens also promises a spectacle with the arrival on rue Lanoy! Who will be the first winner of the Classic Dunkirk – Hauts de Franceresponse on May 13 around 5 p.m.!
Attract the best with more UCI points at stake
With the perpetual desire to improve the race with each edition, the organizing committee wanted, after the 68th edition, to think about attracting the best teams and the best runners, something which had been lacking for several years in Dunkirk but also in other countries. other equivalent races. After consultations and discussions with sports authorities and sports directors, the conclusion was clear: in the race for UCI points, the Four Days did not carry much weight. In order to double the number of points distributed in the general classification, the organization of the Four Days has therefore set up this classic Dunkerque – Hauts de France, which will leave on Tuesday May 13 from Dunkirk to arrive in Lens some 193, 800 kilometers more late after numerous difficulties in the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais!
