The sporting criterion to determine in which National division a club plays is calculated on the average of the points scored by the eight best riders (the six for women's teams) of the structure in the FFC ranking of the past year.
But a new team can apply for a National label. To calculate your sporting level, the FFC points scored by the runners in the declared squad for the following year are taken into account. For a team starting in 2025, the FFC points scored in 2024 are retained.
So what happens when this team recruits riders who were pros in 2024? From the labeling for the 2025 season, the FFC establishes an exchange rate between the UCI point and the FFC point. One UCI point is worth 200 FFC points. This concerns riders holding an Elite Professional license in 2024.
To give an idea, 200 FFC points correspond to 8th place in an Elite National classic (without moderating coefficient) or 10th place in the general classification of an Elite National stage race, or even 12th place in the Championship of France Amateurs. In the other direction, 1 UCI point is equivalent to 3rd place in a 2.2 stage.
