Cyclo-cross: decisive weekend in Châtellerault

After the two cyclo-cross events in Saint-Georges-lès-Baillargeaux last week, the Avenir Cycliste de Châtellerault is doing it again this weekend with three new race starts in two days. For the tireless president, Michel Soulat, these organizations do not seem insurmountable: “We have a good team of competent and well-organized volunteers within the club. Everyone knows what they have to do. The course pleases the runners and we make very few adjustments”he explains. It is true that with its passage through the sand and its dynamic route, the Châtellerault cyclo-cross is one of the most famous of the season.

Attractiveness and originality

Added to the attractiveness of the circuit is the originality of the formula. The first race on the circuit on Saturday is followed by a second event on Sunday run in two stages: a time trial in the morning over a single lap in a counterclockwise direction. “so that the runners do not have the same benchmarks” whose times are added to that of the race on Sunday afternoon. Diabolical!

To the incredible density of the cyclo-cross calendar, we must add the in-depth work carried out by David Cotier, member of the departmental committee. “Some Wednesdays before the races, I invite, through the clubs, young runners who wish to explore the circuit. Their feedback can help the route progress. This recognition helps them progress from a technical point of view and they have less apprehension and stress the following weekend. In addition, it improves the cohesion of the runners and the young people get to know each other. We also organize small workshops on passing boards or how to approach a slope”he specifies.

This weekend will be a real turning point before entering the home stretch of the Vienne cyclo-cross Trophies challenge. Last Sunday, Clément Dubois () took over leadership from Aurélien Deborde (UV ) who does not want to give up anything in front of Durpaix. The latter would like to secure a final podium on which he has always stood since the creation of the Vienne Trophies.

While the closing of entries is still not over, we know that Migeon (Val-de-Sèvre) will be present on Sunday and that Mathieu Morichon, seventeenth in the last round of the French Cup, will be on the trip. Both of them should do some cleaning.

For her part, among the women, Aubry (UV Poitiers) will have a lot to do, this time against Anaïs Morichon, the professional from Arkéa.
