Like the Tour of Spain this year, the O Great Way will start from Portugal for the first time since its creation in 2022. Indeed, the event, which will take place from February 26 to March 2 next year, saw the light of day in 2022 with the victory of the Spanish legend Alejandro Valverde. The last two editions were won by the double winner of the Tour de Francethe Dane Jonas Vingegaard. In 2025, the O Great Way will go from four to five stages.

“Portugal? We also want to enjoy the country”
As in other editions, there will be one stage per province, but this time the inaugural stage will go beyond the borders of the community. Portugal and the Portuguese Way will be the hosts and protagonists of the first stage. Thus, this competition will allow Galicia to strengthen its ties with the neighboring country, which has historically served as a springboard for Galician cyclists. “The round becomes international by crossing the border, strengthening ties with the neighboring country and the Portuguese Camiños. We also want to enjoy the country, which is traditionally the place where many Galician cyclists are welcome“, concludes the race director, Ezequiel Mosquerain the official press release.
