Othmane is not ready to forget his summer of 2024. As a great sports enthusiast, the 33-year-old wandered for several weeks to attend the events of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. With great success, since he witnessed 54 medals of the French delegation (out of 139). A real “marathon” that the member of the association “Les baroudeurs du sport” recounts with nostalgia on the set of BFMTV this Friday.

“There was a lot of preparation. For a year and a half, we knew that Léon Marchand was going to try for the double on a given day. We knew the day of certain sessions by heart. There was a lot of preparation, motivation. Of course, it’s easy to get a place for a given event at 3 p.m., or a given event at 7 p.m. But you have to be motivated to get around. I did the kayak-cross in Vaires-sur-Marne and the BMX in Saint-Quentin by public transport. It must have taken me two hours. At the Olympic Games, I walked 234 kilometers, not counting the bike,” he recalls.

One last lap on Saturday

A total investment that could have been the end of his health. “I had to go see the doctor four days before the end of the Games, telling him that I was having a lot of difficulty walking. He told me that the only solution was to rest. Which I refused.”

With the Games now in the rearview mirror for a week, Othmane has returned to the daily grind of work to avoid “JOstalgia”. But when a video related to the Games is circulating on the networks, it is with great emotion and pleasure that he has a little replay session during a “smooth transition”.

A transition put on hold this Saturday on the occasion of the champions’ parade on the Champs-Élysées, which this fervent supporter will not miss a crumb of. “It’s a bit of a goodbye gift that we didn’t expect. I see it as a last chance to celebrate and relive together the moments we shared.”
