On the official podium of the fourth round of the French Junior Cyclo-cross Cup, the face of one contrasted sharply with that of his runner-up. This Sunday, Soen won, and Soan came even closer than the day before to the home success he so dreamed of. According to the two riders, the victory was decided on a final overtake, before the little wood. “I knew we had to get there before the part opposite the lake. Otherwise, I had very little chance… I had to overtake at that moment and I managed to do it”rejoices Soen Le Pann for DirectVelowho is not a little proud of his tactical move (see ranking). Opposite, it's grimace soup for Soan Ruesche. “I made a tactical error. He passed me at that point and I was never able to get back after that. I should have gone to the back of the circuit. By attacking, he gained the upper hand and I never managed to get back. We were both at 200% and it didn’t do it for me”.
Unable to play the leading roles on Saturday following a fatal mechanical incident, Soen Le Pann was “revenge” and did not do things by halves this time, despite a new adventure at the start of the race. “On the straight after the first pass at the post, I took off my shoes and the front chainring derailed. I tried to keep my composure to put everything back in place. I lost five to ten seconds but I was able to come back”. He then took advantage of Florian Fery's puncture, a time alone in the lead, before the final came down to a duel against the rider from UC Nantes Atlantique. “It’s my first victory of the season and I’m doing it in a Coupe de France round, being J1. It’s exceptional”savors the licensee of EC Plestin Pays Tregor.
Soan Ruesche, for his part, remains with mixed feelings, like 24 hours ago. “Soen has great mental strength, which is undoubtedly what played a role in the final. I wanted to win one of the two rounds, I scored 3 and 2 after scoring 4 twice in Nommay. Now I hope to win one but it's a shame not to do it here. All my friends were there, I’m disappointed”. To witness a new duel between Soen and Soan, you will have to wait since Soan Ruesche will not travel to Troyes. “I’m going to take a breather and prepare for the Dublin World Cup round”.
