Gaël Guillaume and Florian Fery know each other very well. The two Juniors live in the same area, in the , and even train regularly together. This Saturday, on the other side of the country, in -Atlantique, they competed for victory in the sprint during the third round of the French Junior Cyclo-cross Cup, in Pierric. “I fell several times at the start of the race. So I took a break and had to make a big effort to come back”says Gaël Guillaume for DirectVelojust after the official podium. “After that, it took me a while to recover. On the last lap, I wanted to get back into rhythm. Flo took over in turn, he did everything in front and it came down to a sprint”.

Florian Fery, a member of the Bikeenergy school this winter, also made a mistake a little earlier in the race. Which didn't stop him from putting in a good one at the start of the last lap. “I wanted to make a difference and only Gaël followed me. I spent a long stint throughout the first half, but I ended up paying for my efforts”. Because it was ultimately Gaël Guillaume who won in the sprint (see ranking). “We have the same level. 2nd is already good”says Florian Fery, great player.

“We had already had a good time last week in . I had managed to take the advantage halfway through the race and I managed. There, it was tighter and it came down to the very end. It’s really good, I’m super happy”exclaims the member of Team Ardennes Cross Gecibat. What if the two friends did it again tomorrow? “If we do the same thing again but this time in the other direction, it will be great”laughs Florian Fery. Not sure his training buddy doesn't hear it the same way.
