Lucas Dubau shines at the cyclo-cross des remparts

Under the beautiful sun of Langres, Sunday November 3, the 2024 edition of the Remparts, organized by the Langres Vélo club, kept all its promises like the Elites race which saw the victory of Lucas Dubau (Team Peltrax) who won ahead of Valentin Remondet (Amicale cycliste bisontine) and Quentin Navarro (Horizon Montluçon), for whom it was his first participation.

All the ingredients were there for the public to attend a beautiful 2024 edition of the Remparts, contested under beautiful sunshine, Sunday November 3. With a royal line-up, the Elites race, which strongly resembled a French Cup round, kept the Langres public in suspense.

Lucas Dubau, Valentin Remondet, Quentin Navarro and Aurélien Philibert led the race from start to finish. From the start, Lucas Dubau took the lead, but he had to deal with a trio made up of Quentin Navarro, Aurélien Philibert and Valentin Remondet who were chasing hard behind. The member of Team Peltrax was unable to open a significant gap on his pursuers who had him in their sights.

One lap from the finish, Valentin Remondet, the man in good shape of the moment, winner two days ago in , caught up with the breakaway. The final decision fell to Lucas Dubau who got the better of the Bisontin Valentin Remondet and the Montluçonnais Quentin Navarro. Author of a great race, the Haut-Marnais Aurélien Philibert (Team N'Side) came to die at the foot of the podium. Another runner from Haut- stood out, namely Axel Ottiger who placed sixth at 1'23”.

The other events of the day did not lack interest, quite the contrary. Thus, the women, who were only three at the start, put on a show. Amandine Vidon (Vélo club d’Ambérieu) got the better of Marlène Petitgirard and Cyriane Muller.

Axel Gobillot on the podium

The U19s were not to be outdone and had a great fight where once again a rider from the Amicale Cycliste Bisontine Timéo Louison reached the finish line as the winner, ahead of Aubois Julien Pierron. As in the Elites race, a Haut-Marnais stood out, namely Axel Gobillot who took the third step of the podium. “It was a great race, very physical with a high level at the start. The first place was hard to find, but I think that the 2e place was possible. »

In the Masters category, the suspense was cut short. Sarrebourg's Guillaume Schaeffler went it alone. Second upon arrival in Langres, Bragard Christophe Huber was only in the lead for one lap. He fought like hell to keep his second place.

The youth races which opened the ball for this 2024 edition of the Remparts also offered some great fights. Whether on the course or on the plateau, the event dear to Christophe Sirdey was a total success.

The reactions

Lucas Dubau: “the pressure was on my shoulders”

Lucas Dubau (winner among the Elites): “It was really hard today (Sunday), especially since it was my third day of racing. That's a lot. I am very happy to win. There was a big level. I wanted to make a quick start. I made two or three mistakes after halfway. As I only had ten seconds ahead, the pressure was on my shoulders. I gave it a little boost in the final to distance myself from Valentin Remondet. I was “squirting” compared to him. I managed to get through to the end. »

Valentin Remondet (2nd among the Elites): “The course was quite smooth and that didn't help me. At first, I wasn't too worried. The gap was not big. I tried to come back with two laps to go, but it was too late. When I came upon Lucas Dubau on the last lap, he accelerated. At the end, I was exhausted, I couldn't take it anymore. »

Timéo Louison (winner in U19): “The course was pleasant and very varied. I tried to leave right away. At the end, Julien Pierron came back to me. I didn't panic. »

Amandine Vidon (winner among the ladies): “I wasn't in good shape today. My legs hurt and I couldn't restart. I gave a bit of everything in Dijon. I had less juice today (Sunday). It was good training. With Marlène (Petitgirard), we had a great race. The course was very physical. »
