Cycling. Cyclo-cross – Europe – Anja Grossmann crowned in U19, the French far away

After the coronation of Italy the day before in the mixed relay, the European Cyclo-cross Championships 2024 in Pontevedra continues this Sunday with a crazy program and no less than six European titles at stake throughout the day. It was the Junior Women's race which got the ball rolling early this morning, with the victory of the Swiss Anja Grossmann ! The one that succeeds the winners in the French U19 category Célia Géry won after an effort of 37 minutes and 30 seconds and a great three-way battle with the Czech Barbara Bukowski and the Italian Giorgia Pellizottiwhich she finally dominated at the finish and in that order in the last lap.

Group shot of French women at the end of the top 10

Distanced from this trio following a fall, the Dutch Mae Cabaca was never able to come back and failed at the foot of the podium at 18 seconds. The French team was not unworthy but did not have the weapons like last year to try to get involved in the fight for the medals. Les Bleues score a nice group shot in the second curtain, Jeanne Duterne (7e), Zélie Lambert (8th) and Lison Desprez (9th) having crossed the line wheel to wheel around thirty seconds from the podium. Lise Revol finished a little further back in 12th position at 44″.
