Things remain very tense for Corratec and Euskaltel one week before the end of the 2024 season. Indeed, uncertainty still reigns around the presence of these two teams within the Top 40 of the UCI rankingthe only gateway to an invitation to a Grand Tour in 2025.
39th, Euskaltel has around 130 points margin, but the Basque structure has finished its 2024 season. It will therefore no longer score UCI points this year. Just like a bunch of other teams, but the danger could come from Italy, and from a rider from Alpecin Deceuninck Devo, who would score a bunch of points in the final straight. This while being aligned in his World-Tour team.
For Team Corratec, things seem more complicated, because the Italian team is now in 42nd position. But the Tuscan team can still dream, because it still has 2 events listed on its 2024 calendar. Tour of Veneto and the Veneto Classic.
Two timely races, for two reasons. The 1st, they are both classified in the Pro Series, and therefore earn points for the first 40 to cross the line. On the other hand, half of the peloton is on vacation, and only 18 teams including a few Conti are announced.
A godsend therefore, and certainly a huge motivation, because without a top 40, Corratec can say goodbye to its hopes of Giro 2025.
