For someone who knew nothing about the circuit a few hours before getting on her machine, Morgann Francon played it well and won, Sunday October 13, in Saint-Éloi.
In recent days, he has consulted the event schedule. And as in the surroundings of Issoire, there was nothing that interested him, so Morgann Francon set his sights on the Saint-Éloi event, organized on Sunday October 13 on the motocross field.
And he didn’t make the trip for nothing, since he won the event under the nose of one of the favorites (even the favorite), the Neversois Florian Auroux (JGS Nevers), all crowned with his triumphed last week in Selles-sur-Cher.
A nice move. Which didn’t seem to surprise him.
I didn’t know the route at all. I barely even spotted him a few minutes before the start of the race. I met him when the start was given.
BMX to start
The Auvergne is only in his second season in the discipline. “I started with BMX, it’s not the same thing. For fifteen years. I’m 21. I started traveling three years ago. It’s true that I’m starting off in the best possible way. »
Leaving quietly, Morgann Francon never panicked. “No, why do it? I saw that Florian (Auroux) had ants in his legs. He took off like a rocket. Then I came back quietly. We were together for a long time. Afterwards, I accelerated normally. I think he must have tried too hard. »
No time to think, since the Issoirien will be in Nommay (Doubs) next week for a round of the Coupe de France. “That’s good, I’ll be able to calibrate myself. There will be competition. Ideal for progress. »
Florian Auroux lacked legs
Behind Morgann Francon, Florian Auroux held on. The JGS Nevers rider (he will soon wear the colors of Guidon Chalettois) immediately wanted to set the bar high. But, as the laps went by, he left his strength in the Elige mud. And, logically, he could not follow Morgan Francon’s punches.
“I believed in it anyway. I really reached the end of what I could do,” he said, flushed a few seconds after arrival. “Morgann maneuvered well, he deserves his success. I lacked general strength. At the end, I no longer had any legs. I thought too. As a result, the mind could not keep up. »
premium Going from road to cyclo-cross, particularly in the Nivernais undergrowth, a sequence that everyone manages in their own way
The young Neversois has not really gotten used to the course, although it was laid out by the leaders of his club. “I found it really hit home. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone all out. Well, we’re not going to do the race again. »
Next Sunday, at Alluy, he will try to remember the good memories of the competition.
