After a fall on Saturday on the Exact Cross in Beringen, the Belgian Eli Iserbyt violently crushed the bike of the Dutchman Ryan Kamp before being disqualified.
A reaction that cost him dearly. Eli Iserbyt was present this Saturday at the start of the Exact Cross in Beringen (Belgium) to open the cyclo-cross season. And the Belgian champion distinguished himself by unsporting behavior. Victim of a fall after a collision with the Dutchman Ryan Kamp, the Belgian, who hit a pole, got up in a rage and attacked his competitor’s bike, which he violently crushed, notably at the derailleur level.
The two men then explained, being very close to coming to blows, before Eli Iserbyt got back on his bike. But his action did not go unpunished since he was logically disqualified a few minutes later by the organizers. A decision he did not contest.
“I reacted badly and lost my composure in the heat of the moment. This is something that already presented itself last year with numerous cases where Kamp cut off riders for no reason. But I understand why they disqualified me,” Eli Iserbyt told Sporza.
And the Dutch as well as the Belgians were the main leaders of the race since the Batavian Lars van der Haar won ahead of the two Belgians Michael Vanthourenhout (2e) and Niels Vandeputte (3e).
