This Manche company takes over Gitane and Peugeot Cycles, two iconic French brands

The Rebirth Group, pioneer of electric mobility and leader for 20 years in the electrically assisted bicycle (VAE) sector with brands such as Solex, Matra Cycles Lejeune and Coleen, announced theacquisition of the production site and activities of Cycleurope France.

Two iconic French brands

With this takeover, the Rebirth Group, whose factory is based in Saint-Lô (Manche), continues the heritage of the two iconic French brands: Gitane and Peugeot Cycles. The Manche company thus complements “its expertise and historical know-how in the manufacturing and assembly of bicycles and electrically assisted bicycles to consolidate its service offering”.

With a long history of passion and victories that began in 1928, Gitane has over time become a cycling legend by equipping the biggest names in competition. This iconic French brand continues to cross generations by offering models adapted to the expectations of the most demanding users.

The Peugeot Cycles brand has existed since 1885 and offers a complete range of classic and electric bicycles, across different universes.

Takes over 100% of the workforce

Finally, thanks to this acquisition, Rebirth will be able to complete your offer with the network of Vélo & Oxygen affiliated stores. The Manchese society also plans the construction of a new industrial site in the commune of Romilly-sur-Seine and takes over 100% of the workforce from Cycleurope France.
