A Spanish recruit will join Cofidis for the next three seasons. This is Sergio Samitier, a 29-year-old rider who has still not raised his arms among the pros, and is in 1,406th place in the UCI rankings.
He should therefore only occupy the role of a model team member with his leaders.
Sergio Samitier: “ After five seasons at Movistar, I wanted a big change. I wanted to question myself and above all rediscover what I love most: enjoying the big stage races, fighting to help the team shine and trying my luck too. People who know me know that I like to be free and give everything without counting. I want to help the team as much as possible, especially in the mountains so that my new teammates can show their full potential. I can also integrate escapes, particularly in the mountains, and try my luck. For me, I am not joining a new team but a new family.“
At the same time, Cofidis announced the extension of Jonathan Lastra, for a period of one additional season.
