Para-cyclist Florian Jouanny won the silver medal in the road race at the World Cycling Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday, September 26. The Isérois had already come second in the time trial on Tuesday.

Florian Jouanny once again on the second step of the podium. The para-cyclist from Isère won the silver medal in the road race at the World Cycling Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday 26 September.

This Thursday, Florian Jouanny was beaten by only one minute and three seconds by the Spaniard Sergio Garrote Munoz. The Italian Luca Mazzone, crowned in the time trial, completed the podium 10 minutes behind the leader of the race.

“The Spaniard started very strongly. I came back halfway through the race. I tried to accelerate on the flat, but I saw that the sensations weren’t right. Behind him, he went off on the hill. At the time, I thought I was going to be able to get back on the rolling sections but in the end, I didn’t have any energy in the second half of the race.”he reacted.

“The weather was unpredictable. And then my health was not good. I did what I could.”continued Florian Jouanny. For a week, the cyclist has had to compete while being ill. Despite this state of health, he had already snatched the silver medal in the time trial in his H2 category on Tuesday.

At the beginning of September, Florian Jouanny was became Paralympic champion in road racing and on the relay. He thus puts an end to a busy summer, marked by five international medals.
