Para-cycling World Championships | The hat-trick of shame for our French

While we were looking forward to the Para-cycling World Championships, they are turning into a nightmare. Please, make it stop.

It will be difficult to forgive para-cycling one day

These 2024 Paracycling Road World Championships will forever remain as a huge mutiny. After the C4 category time trial, which saw the French monopolize the podium with a 100% French podium, this same category saw fit to humiliate us once again. Finally, the latter has nothing to do with it technically, our wrath is mainly directed at the following three para-cyclists: Mattis Lebeau, Kévin Le Cunff and Gatien Le Rousseau.

If the three lads laid down the law during the time trial, as far as the 90.9 km long road race with a height difference of 1248 m is concerned, we thought that they would seek forgiveness. But to obtain forgiveness, you first have to ask for it. And from the first few metres of the race, we immediately understood that this was not part of their plan. The three Frenchmen launched an incendiary attack from the start, and managed to give the peloton a wide berth. Only the brave Archie Atkinson managed to follow them, becoming by force of circumstances our ally of circumstance. Who would have thought that we would one day support a British athlete? Everything is going to hell in this world.

But at 3 vs 1, Atkinson doesn’t last long in the breakaway. The quartet becomes a trio, and the three Frenchmen now have only one problem to solve: how to share the three medals? It is finally Gatien Le Rousseau who is chosen to become world champion in the C4 category, he who has never been in his career unlike his two acolytes. He is ahead of Mattis Lebeau and Kévin Le Cunff. The three Frenchmen even take the time to celebrate before crossing the finish line, a panache that we absolutely do not share. You are still not happy? Another triple.

There was the BMX Olympic final, now there is the road race in the C4 category.
