Celia Gery () took 5th place almost a minute from victory.

A very fast start in the rain

The start of the road race was given at 10 am 2024 World Championships road cycling among the Junior Women this thursday at Uster. In pouring rain, it did not take long before the first fall, in a roundabout, which notably involved the Frenchwoman Melanie DupinThe Netherlands and Germany immediately took the lead and set the pace to avoid the peloton being too close together.

The favorites quickly isolate themselves

While theGermany and the Great Britain were very insistent, a group of favorites broke away from the peloton about sixty kilometers from the finish. Thus, Cat Ferguson (Great Britain), Celia Gery (France), Megan Arens (The Netherlands), Paula Ostiz (Spain), or even Eleona La Berra (Italy) took the lead. However, a group came back from behind at the start of the last lap.

A trio towards a sprint for the title of World Champion

In the Witikon (1.9 km at 6.3%), Victoria Chladonová (Slovakia) set a very high pace which caused suffering Megan Arens, Imogen Wolff, Giada Silo or even the French woman Celia Gery. Alone Paula Ostiz (Spain) and Cat Ferguson (Great Britain) have managed to keep up with the Slovak’s breakneck pace. If Chladonova tried a few times to distance his opponents, it was finally a sprint that took place at Zurich. In this little game, Cat Ferguson proved to be the fastest.
