After his victory in the Tour du Luxembourg, Gaudu focuses on the World Championships

David Gaudu, leader of the Groupama-FDJ team, won the fifth and final stage of the Tour de Luxembourg last Sunday, confirming his great form a week before the World Championships. During this final stage, the Breton put in an exceptional performance, attacking on the last climb 1.5 km from the finish to drop his competitors. Thanks to this offensive, he crossed the line first, thus securing his second victory of the season and the 14th for his team in 2024, as he told Cyclisme Actu. : “We really manoeuvred well all day, I’ve been in good shape for a while now and the other day when Vansevenant won, it didn’t really pay off, we got caught out. I played on the fact that Tiberi was ahead of me in the general classification to save myself a little bit. If I waited for the sprint, I knew I had lost so I told myself that I was going to put everything in all the way to the top and that it would hold until the finish, that’s what happened, it’s just great.”

Gaudu has his head turned towards the World Championships

David Gaudu does not hide his impatience for the World Championships: “This victory confirms a good form since La Vuelta, I will try to keep it until next week for the World Championships. We have a very good French team at the start and I can’t wait to see what Thomas’ briefings will be like… They are still the Thomas Voeckler briefings and I’ve never really had too many (laughs). In any case I am very motivated, and the confidence capital to go to the World Championships is there, I made an effort, I was doing well… Now, I will have to recover and I already have the World Championships in my head” added the FDJ rider.
