Cycling. Road – World Championships – Bruno Armirail: “A fairly decent time”

There was no feat for Bruno Armirail (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) on the time trial of Zurich World Championships this Sunday. The French champion of the discipline achieved a good time to finally finish in 11th place, his best result in Worlds. “It’s a pretty decent time trial” summarized the runner Decathlon AG2R The World on arrival.

“My times this season are pretty good…”

Bruno Armirail confided after his effort: “I did a pretty decent time, power-wise it was okay, I didn’t manage to put too much into the climb. I started off strong… well I started off strong but not that much when you look at the intermediates. You had to start off pretty fast but without putting too much into it at the start to put more into the climbs. But with the 20 flat kilometers before you’re already in gear for 25 minutes so accelerating in the climbs is even harder. The last 12 kilometers are also very complicated because you’re tense on the descent. My times this season are pretty decent apart from the Tour de where I messed up, but otherwise on the WorldTour time trials it’s decent, it’s certainly not top 5 or winning but I always hope for better.”
