REPORTING – Between the Channel and the Atlantic, from granite villages to red schist cliffs and from canals to estuaries, a greenway, the V42, crosses the interior of the land…

Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine)

It is a very Breton paradox: while its coastline (Armor) is known in every nook and cranny, the interior of (Argoat) remains a terra incognita. So what is hidden between the Channel and the Atlantic, when you cross it from north to south? This is the whole purpose of the V42, a greenway that connects Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) to Pénestin on the Atlantic coast in 245 kilometers, passing through Arzal (Morbihan).

The ramparts of the city of Saint-Malo give a grandiose touch to the start. Beforehand, we will have taken a bath in the waves on the beach of Paramé, in the cool and salty waters of the English Channel. Barely dried, here we are in the saddle for a week of cycle touring far from the beaten track. An affair that we can do alone, in pairs or, like us, with the family. The things for the week easily fit in the panniers attached to the back of the bike. But in the ferry that takes us to Dinard, a little knot in the stomach…
