The Red Bull – Bora Hansgrohe team has announced the signing of Jan Tratnik (34 years old) for the next three seasons. The Slovenian will thus be reunited with his compatriot Primoz Roglic.

A 23rd rider in the Red Bull – Bora Hansgrohe squad next year! The German team announced on Tuesday the recruitment of Jan Tratnik for the next three seasons. The 34-year-old Slovenian will arrive from Visma-Lease a Bike, where he spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and will therefore be reunited with his compatriot and the man who was his leader last year, Primoz Roglic. “I may not be the youngest, but I am very happy to join a team that has so many ambitions. I still have many personal goals, but I also want to share my experience with the youngsters and help the team push its limits in all areas.” reacted Tratnik, winner this year of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, one of the first Belgian classics of the season. “Talent needs experience. That’s why it was important for us to recruit someone who has been in the peloton for several seasons. Jan is the perfect example of a rider who is both a team player and who has the hunger and strength to succeed on his own,” said the boss of the German team, Ralph Denk.

An eighth team for Tratnik

Red Bull – Bora Hansgrohe will be the eighth professional team of Jan Tratnik, who played for a long time in Continental Pro (the second division of cycling), notably at CCC Polkowice (2017-2018), before discovering the World Tour at Bahrain-Merida, where he spent four seasons before joining Jumbo-Visma. The Slovenian rider has won twelve times during his career, including four Slovenian time trial championship titles and a stage of the 2020 Giro. This season, he notably finished third in the Tour of the Algarve, 34th in the Giro, 64th in the Tour de and 8th in the road race at the Olympic Games. He will be back next week at the World Championships in Zurich, alongside the “dream team” composed of Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic, Matej Mohoric and Luka Mezgec.
