The different cultural actors in Pringy (Seine-et-Marne) regularly mobilize to propose activities. But after the Covid-19 some toil always to find their audience. This is the case of themusic school located at Les Ménétriers artistic center and his jam-sessions who are impatiently waiting for you!

Requesting musicians

In 2007, the Pringy music school, Les Ménétriers, organized its first jam sessions. The principle is simple, every Thursday, the stage was open in the evening for different jazz groups, who came to play according to their desires and availability.

No musical constraints, all styles were accepted on stage, from New to Free-Jazz, including Gypsy and Jazz-Rock. A very heterogeneous, happy mix, which had its audience, mostly regulars, but also those who came through word of mouth.

But the confinements brought a halt to these meetings which are struggling to get back on track at such a sustained pace.

“We currently have one evening per month, every second Thursday to be precise,” explains Philippe Duseval, the school treasurer. The musicians were very eager and came back straight away. On the other hand, it was more complicated in terms of audience. »

People have difficulty coming back, hence this new rhythm, one session per month.

Great discoveries

Because this is perhaps one of the issues on which the school will have to work. The municipality displays the dates on the illuminated information panels, but since it is a jam, the groups and musicians coming are known too little in advance to be in the minds of the public.

“But,” replies Philippe Duseval, “that’s what also makes this type of concert interesting, discovering a jazz movement that we don’t know much about, that has its charm. In addition, entry is free, we have a refreshment bar, there is parking and Bor & Gini, the restaurant next door, allows you to park in its own parking lot. »

In addition, Les Ménétriers provide music and singing lessons and a choir and a Gospel group are integrated into the school.

Jam Session, the second Thursday of each month – Next sessions on January 9 and February 13 Address: Agora de Pringy, 2 rue du Lourdeau from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Information on the school's Facebook under the title Calm Pringy
